Sambucus Nigra (Black Elderberry) Seed Oil from Austrian Organic Farming
Our elderberry seed oil is extracted from the small seeds of the elderberry (Sambucus nigra), cultivated under ideal climatic conditions in Austria. As a by-product of elderberry juice production, it is cold-pressed from the seeds. The resulting golden-yellow oil is rich in valuable fatty acids and antioxidants, offering a range of benefits for both skin and hair.
Fatty Acid Profile and Components
Elderberry seed oil stands out for its balanced fatty acid composition:
- OMEGA 6, Linoleic Acid: 37–45% – Supports skin moisture and strengthens the skin barrier.
- OMEGA 3, Alpha-Linolenic Acid: 35–40% – Provides anti-inflammatory and soothing effects on sensitive and irritated skin.
- Oleic Acid: 8–14% – Enhances the absorption of the oil and leaves the skin feeling smooth.
Additionally, the oil contains valuable tocopherols (Vitamin E), particularly gamma-tocopherol (80-100 mg/kg), which possess antioxidant properties and protect the skin from oxidative stress. This composition makes elderberry seed oil a high-quality active ingredient for skincare.
The Ideal Component for Your Cosmetic Products
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and moisturizing properties, elderberry seed oil is an ideal active ingredient for:
- Sensitive Skin: Soothes irritations and promotes natural cell regeneration.
- Impure and Atopic Skin: Studies show that regular use of the oil can reduce redness and swelling.
- Dry Skin: Provides intense hydration and ensures long-lasting moisture.
- Dull Hair: Nourishes hair and gives it a natural shine.
100% Pure Elderberry Seed Oil, Cold-Pressed and Refined
Elderberry seed oil has a light consistency, absorbs quickly, and leaves no greasy residue. Its medium spreading effect makes it particularly suitable for non-film-forming emulsions on oily or impure skin. When combined with phytosterol-rich plant butters or oils high in oleic acid, such as avocado or almond oil, absorption is optimized, and the skin is deeply nourished.
Storage and Shelf Life
The elderberry seed oil is available in drums (190 kg) and cans (10 kg) and should be stored in a cool, dry, and light-protected place. When stored properly in its original packaging (under nitrogen), it has a shelf life of at least 24 months.
