The laboratory headed by Prof. Schubert Institute of Virology, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg studied the effect of ElderCraft®, an extract made by IPRONA from Sambucus nigra, L. black elderberries (variety Haschberg) on the replication of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19. The study revealed that ElderCraft® inhibits at the replication of the virus in vitro[us1] .
Encouraged by these findings, IPRONA filed an international patent describing ElderCraft® for use in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
